The Azzurini played well on match day two on Tuesday afternoon at the Stadio Ianniello di Frattamaggiore, Naples to earn a 2-2 draw against Feyenoord’s youth team. In the first half, Napoli was able to contain Feyenoord defensively while creating many attacking opportunities in front of goal. Once again, promising midfielder Gianluca Gaetano stole the show in the 17th minute by scoring a stunning goal off a corner kick curling it in off the far post, bringing the fans to their feet making it 1-0. Shortly after, Feyenoord was awarded a free kick taken by El Bouchataoui but nothing came of it as it easily fell into the hands of Napoli goalkeeper Shaeper. The Azzurini striked again in the 45th minute from a powerful low shot driven into the right corner by defender Pio Schiavi.
The second half saw Feyenoord picking up the pace taking plenty of shots but could not solve the keeper. IN the 52nd minute, Feyenoord star striker Alex Bangura had a glorious opportunity in the box controlling the ball beautifully onto his right foot but missed the target. In the 56th minute, Gaetano made an impressive individual effort cutting right to left at the top of the box with a dangerous quick shot on net but Feyenoord keeper Ten Hove stretched to make the save. Feyenoord then scored in the 66th minute cutting the deficit to 2-1 off a menacing cross by defender Malacia into the box finding its way onto the foot of Daudè Van Der Kust to pound home the goal. The dark moment arrived as Napoli could not hold the lead despite creating many chances. They conceded an equalizer in the 90th minute off a corner kick by defender Lutsharel Geertruida who knocked in the header and was the hero to his teammates.

Although giving up the equalizer in the minute, Saurini’s boys showed character and a wiliness to battle hard against one of Europe’s strong youth teams. Gianluca Gaetano has been an absolute star so far proving to be lethal in front of goal scoring two goals in two games and making his name heard across the continent. The Azzurini currently sit in second place with four points under Manchester City who has accumulated a perfect record of six points. Napoli will be in for a real test as they face Manchester City’s U-19 team next match on Tuesday October 17th.
