Reina (6.5): One of the biggest deficits he’s faced all season, however of all the big games it was a surprise to see Genoa manage to score and many and Manchester City
Ghoulam (7.5): Seemed rather lacking of his usual offensive flair that has really boosted his last few performances, however most certainly a solid defensive presence all around, rarely left exposed.
Koulibaly (7): Some uncharacteristic mistakes definitely hampered his game, and between the last 3 big games this was the one he conceded the most in?! However his workload looked a little heavier then usual in the absence of Albiol.
Chiriches (6.5): Looked much slower then Albio usually looks and only watched as Genoa’s second goal went in.
Hysaj:(6) A great save from Perin late on in the game denied him his first goal, however his attacking presence stayed strong throughout. Defensively he was exposed a few times by Taraabt’s quick feet.
Hamsik (6.5): Whilst he maintained a solid presence in the midfield and was constantly an option for distribution, Hamsik looked somewhat sluggish in some of his decisions. Perhaps it would be wise for Sarri to rest him before we return to the Champions League.
Diawara (7.5): Solid as usual, launching a lovely assist for Mertens’ fantastic goal.
Zielinski (7): Looked much stronger from the start then he has in previous games, maintaining a strong attacking presence, however is still lacking somewhat in his application of pressure and defensive presence.
Insigne (8): Another wonderful performance from Lorenzo who has been the main man in the side this season. His defensive game under Sarri has improved immensely and he truly looks like the complete winger despite his diminutive figure.
Mertens (9): Two extraordinary goals topped off by forcing an own goal which (sadly) did not constitute a hat trick. It was most certainly a return to form for Dries who has been rather lacklustre in our last 3 big mathces.
Callejon (7): A standard game from the Spaniard, defensively and offensively pressing the Genoa players and provided a proper outlet for Hysaj’s strong attacking force.
Rog (7): Substituted for Callejon but provided a vastly different game, making some solid wins in the middle of the park and looking to distribute it wide time and time again.
Allan (N/A): A late substitution to plug up some leaks in a usually strong defence after the second goal.
Giaccherini (N/A): A very late sub for Insigne.
