Lorenzo Tonelli, was a mystery for much of the year, often training to the side and not making it to the official squad list for matches. His father spoke to Radio CRC about the injuries he had, his current state of health, and optimism for next year. Here is what he had to say:
I think Lorenzo will do very well next year. He’s better now and has been training during this break. The goal against Sampdoria was great, unfortunately after that he suffered from a hernia. Against Milan he was already in a lot of pain. It’s a shame he suffered these injuries this year. He started off at Dimaro with a knee problem and then the hernia. Now he is 100%. By the last few games he was already doing better.
On a possibility of a transfer
I think that as a footballer he obviously wants to play. The World Cup is next year as well and he was in the orbit of the national side before his injury. Ventura appreciates him. I think he can do well but we need to see what Sarri’s plan is. Lorenzo has always had a good relationship with Sarri and Napoli has several competitions, but there are already 5 centerbacks. He would like to stay but you need to consider all things. If he leaves, whoever gets him will have done good business.
