Hamsik was interviewed today by KissKissNapoli. Here is what he had to say:

We can’t wait to take the field. It’s been a long preseason and we feel prepared and excited to take the pitch. Expectations are high. We have to aim to do well and hopefully improve last year’s position. Juventus has not won the Scudetto yet. This season will be like a long marathon and it starts on Sunday. We want to get off to a better start than we did last year and come out strong. We have to be ready because Pescara will certainly want to beat us.

We understand what Sarri wants and can still improve on our performance in the friendlies. The new arrivals have settled in well and there is a good atmosphere here.

On being the banner man of Napoli: I’m very happy. It’s my tenth year and nothing is finished yet. Let’s see what we can accomplish. I dream of winning the scudetto wearing the captain’s armband. Maybe one day I’ll realize that dream.

On Champions League: We want to do well. The team was built to compete on three fronts. We have a strong and complete squad. We are ready to take on all three competitions, especially Champions League.

Message to the fans: We are strong! I know our fans have lost an idol like Higuain but the team has demonstrated that it is alive and well. We will continue to play like we did last year. I want to tell them not to worry. It will be a great season. Manolo Gabbiadini and Arek Milik are great players and will do well upfront.

On the away match vs Juventus on October 30th: Let’s say it would be a pleasure to win for the first time at Juventus Stadium, especially with Higuain there. Let’s say it would be double the pleasure.
